A, B, C, D'S of Medicare
Part A - Hospital Insurance
For most people Part A is premium free, which means you do not have a monthly payment. Part A will pay for some hospital bills and certain skilled nursing facility expenses. Also provided but limited is skilled nursing care after hospitalization, rehabilitative services, home health care, and hospice care for terminally ill.
Part B - Medical Insurance
Part B is premium based and that premium is based on your income. This premium helps pay doctors and other charges such as surgical care, diagnostic tests, some hospital outpatient services, laboratory services, physical and occupational therapy, and durable medical equipment.
Part C - Medicare Advantage Plans
These plans provide Medicare coverage through private insurance companies. You may have co-payments and deductibles. These plans are privatized and must offer Medicare minimums.
Part D - Prescription Drug Plans
Part D is privatized and optional, although if not enrolled you may be subject to a penalty. Part D is intended to provide assistance for outpatient prescription drug cost. If you take few or do not take any drugs contact us about ways to avoid the federal drug penalty.
